Event: 2008 Department of Justice Protest/National Press Club

In 2008, a coalition of organizations, groups, and individuals, led by Morality in Media, organized a coalition protest of anti-porn, pro-family, and other concerned groups and leaders, who are tired of our federal obscenity laws not being enforced, and the lack of prosecutions that the U.S. Department of Justice is bringing forth of mainstream pornographers. In fact, Attorney General Eric Holder has now dismantled the Adult Hard-core Pornography enforcement arm of the Obscenity Section, into the Child Exploitation Division – where only child porn is being investigated now. Due to this, a media event was held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where we were present, discussing Representative Paul Broun’s Military Decency Act also, in effort to support his initiative in getting porn magazines banned from military commissary stores. Those from Girls Against Porn & Human Trafficking, Morality in Media, Concerned Women for America, Movieguide, Shared Hope, and many others were present at the Press Club and protest. We still have yet to see the Department of Justice enforce the federal obscenity laws, reinstitute the adult hard-core porn prosecutions within the Obscenity Section and prosecute adult hard-core pornographers like they should be. The pressure must stay on the government to prosecute and we will continue to do so with your help!
